In this irresistible crowd-pleaser and winner of Best European Film at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, Alba Rohrwacher (also in Daughter of Mine, Perfect Strangers LIFF16) stars as a timid woman with trouble on all fronts whose life is mysteriously intercepted by possibly divine intervention.
Single mother Lucia is trying to strike a balance between raising her teenage daughter, a complicated relationship and her career as a land surveyor. Her future is jeopardized when she realizes that due to the city council’s inaccurate maps, the site for an ambitious new building is full of geological risks. But Lucia is afraid to speak up for fear of losing her job.
Out of the blue, a mysterious foreign woman in a shawl appears, following Lucia around as she tries to convince her to stand up to her superiors and recommend a church for the troubled site. Lucia’s belief in miracles is about to be put to the test. Hailed as a “hidden gem” by The Hollywood Reporter, dramatic, amusing and entertaining - Lucia’s Grace is a modern miracle.
